    A very warm welcome to Composite Regional Centre for Skill development Rehabilitation and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (CRC) Nellore, it’s an extension of the National Institute for the Empowerment of persons with Intellectual disability,(NIEPID). It is my pleasure to introduce you to this institute which has grown tremendously since its inception on 3rd January 2016 at Nellore district of Andrapradesh. CRC provide very comprehensive rehabilitation in the areas of disability under the preview of RPWD act, centre is fully equipped with all types of rehabilitation facility with qualified and experienced faculty. More over an exclusive Rehabilitation service for children under the age of 6 years with separate rehabilitation unit (CDEIC).

    Persons with Disability is an important public health problem especially a country like India. The problem will increase in future because of growing prevalence rate of non-communicable diseases and changes of life expectancy.  Majority of the disabled resides in rural areas where Social security, accessibility, availability, and utilization of rehabilitation services and its cost-effectiveness are the major issues to address. Disability Research, need based intervention strategies and their implementation to the present context is a big challenge. In this context CRC Nellore committed to address, protect and promote rehabilitation service in association with Government and non-Government agencies across the state of Anderapradesh and neighbouring states also.

     

    Our Service includes assessment and evaluation covering case history of Clinical Psychology, Speech, Language & Hearing assessment, Special educational, Occupational therapy, Physiotherapy, Vocational & skill training and Job Placement. Each department makes plans on the basis of evaluation & test results, goals are set according to function level and severity of the disability with the support and suggestion from professionals, parents/family members and clients. Intervention program plan is also made for home based training, school & community based management. Each month CRC ensuring Gender focused activities, Rolling workshop, parental training programmes, Continuing Rehabilitation Education programmes (STTP) Disability Screening camps at community level, weekly recreational activities. As part of Human resource development currently CRC running 2 years Diploma in Special Education (HI) approved by RCI and very shortly going to start Diploma in Indian Sign Language Interpreter (2 years), Certified Course in Care giving (6 months), Diploma in Vocational Rehabilitation (1 year) moreover CRC conducting professional training in the area of disability rehabilitation for professionals, students and local governing bodies.

    CRC has well equipped vocational rehabilitation unit which includes skill training and vocational training for various disabilities under RPWD act. Training for Photostat machine operation, screen printing, mug and t-shirt printing, sanitary pad making, food and beverages, file making, glass painting, candles making, soap making, sewing machine operator course, domestic data entry course, Employability skill training with govt. approved certificate and stipend.
